Open the door to island culture on this 11-day luxury cruise around Cuba, with stops in Havana, Isla de la Juventud, Cienfuegos, and Santiago de Cuba. This trip starts off with an overnight stay in Miami, Florida, once dubbed “America’s Riviera.” Miami is a must-see vacation hotspot rich with the influence of Caribbean and LatinAmerican culture. Havana is the cultural heart of Cuba. An eclectic mix of neoclassical, baroque, and modern architecture lines its colonial cobblestone alleys. Duck into one of the city’s many cafés or restaurants or stroll El Bosque—the lush green forest between the neighborhoods of Miramar and Vedado. Cuba’s second-largest island, Isla de la Juventud, offers a respite from the hustlebustle of the country’s more well-known regions. Once the scene of pirate battles, today the island is a destination for scuba divers exploring the marvels of the world’s second-largest coral reef. Tour the imposing Presidio Modelo, where Fidel Castro was imprisoned, or see the pretty grounds and hacienda at El Abra, which commemorates Cuba’s national hero, José Martí. Cienfuegos, the only Cuban city founded by French settlers, spreads around a sparkling natural bay. Take in the rare beauty of the “Pearl of the South.” Explore the Castillo de Jagua, or visit El Nicho, the botanical garden with one of the best collections of palm trees in the world. Santiago de Cuba is a busy mix of color and culture. Wander streets lined with neoclassical and baroque buildings,
visit the citadel of San Pedro de la Roca, a UNESCO World Heritage site, or take a trip to the first home in the Americas.
