Board the luxurious Scenic Amber in Budapest and raise a glass to the exciting journey ahead at your ship’s welcome reception. Uncover Budapest’s history on a guided tour that includes a piano concert or partake in a focused tour of the city’s Jewish heritage with a local guide. Alternatively, you can hike to Buda Hill for breathtaking views over the Danube or visit nearby Szentendre for a guided city tour of its winding cobblestone streets and colorful shops and museums. Cruise the river to Vienna, the “City of Music.” Sip a glass of Austrian Sekt inside Palais Liechtenstein as you enjoy a private concert featuring the music of Austria’s favorite sons, Strauss and Mozart. The next day, take in views of the countryside from the picturesque Bratislava Castle, witness the Habsburg splendor of Schönbrunn Palace, or see Vienna on a guided cycling tour. Alternatively, visit Vienna’s Belvedere Museum, which houses one of the greatest collections of Austrian art, as well as works by Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. Stop in Dürnstein and join a guided bike ride along the river to Melk. Otherwise, visit a local winery with an included wine tasting or opt to tour Melk’s magnificent eighteenth-century Benedictine Abbey. Next, travel from Linz to Passau. Take an excursion to the atmospheric medieval town of Ceský Krumlov, a UNESCO-listed site, or venture to Salzburg to explore the birthplace of Mozart and the backdrop for the film The Sound of Music. Your voyage will conclude in Nuremberg, but before that, stroll through Regensburg on a walking tour, cycle on your own to the Walhalla monument, or journey by ferry to Weltenburg Abbey where you can sample beer from one of the oldest monastic breweries in the world.
