Sue spent the majority of her professional career in the telecommunications industry, holding positions in regulatory, operations, and communications at Bell of Pennsylvania, Bell Atlantic, and ultimately, Verizon Communications. At Verizon she served as vice president of Employee Communications, overseeing strategic communication efforts related to mergers and other corporate initiatives, and was the vice president of Public Affairs when she retired in 2005.
Sue is currently the director of Marketing and Communications at The Shipley School, an independent preK-12 co-ed school in Bryn Mawr, Pa. She just completed a seven-year term as chair of the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Montessori Charter School, a public charter school in Philadelphia. She has an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Sue has been an active William & Mary alumna for many years. She served as chair of the Board of the Annual Fund and on the Class of 1979’s Reunion Committees. Sue’s husband, Glenn Gundersen, is a 1976 graduate of the College.
