The William & Mary Alumni Association was founded on July 4, 1842, and is the sixth-oldest alumni organization in the country. All graduates and former students of the College of William and Mary are considered members of the Alumni Association.
In 2014, the William & Mary Alumni Association merged with University Development to form the Office of University Advancement. The Alumni Association remains an independent 501(c)3 organization with an elected board of directors, and many of the products and services prepared by former Alumni Association staff continue to be overseen by the same staff.
University Advancement strengthens William & Mary’s ability to make meaningful connections with each and every member of the university community. We integrate alumni engagement, annual giving, development, marketing, external communications and university events teams. All of our departments work together to build a culture of engagement and philanthropy within the William & Mary community.
