Thanks to all who participated in our survey and expressed interest in various types of networking clubs. As you might imagine, the responses were so varied that we couldn’t determine one or two top choices to pursue.
Therefore, we’re starting with an organizational book club meeting in Fairfax Station, because Anne Sharp ’82 and Barry Sharp '81 have kindly offered to host the first gathering (with wine & cheese)! The book club will meet on Thursday, Nov 10, from 7:30-9:00 pm. The address is 7211 Twelve Oaks Drive, Fairfax Station, VA, 22039.
Be prepared to share at least one of the following:
At the Nov. 10 meeting, groups will be formed based on genre, location, etc. Attendees will give “book talks” on what they’ve brought to share from the list above, which will then generate selections for the next meeting(s).
Please register for the Nov. 10 book club meeting.
Can’t make it on Nov. 10, but interested in organizing a book club in another location? Send an email to Sue Newman ’79 at firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know your interest and details (location, day/date, time, etc.) The survey showed us that the most popular locations for networking clubs were: Arlington, Tysons, Fairfax, Alexandria, Falls Church, Penn Quarter/Chinatown, and Dupont. Book clubs can be held in homes or public locations, such as Starbucks.
We’re starting with book clubs, because they were the most popular type of networking club and will look into expanding into other types of networking clubs after we get the book clubs going. Just one more way we can connect with each other in our W&M community!
