Join W&M alumni to complete work in preparation for the imminent opening of 8+ miles of rustic trails at President James Monroe's Highland in Charlottesville. Learn about this beautiful, W&M owned property and its famous resident from the Executive Director, Sara Bon-Harper, then head off for a half-day or full-day of grooming and marking trails.
Lunch will be provided and an evening gathering is planned. Dress for work in the woods and bring gloves. Tools such as clippers, loppers, and electric- or gas-powered yard tools (small chain saw, weed whacker, etc.) would be very welcome.
Alumni and friends will have the opportunity to sign up for one of three options - a morning shift, afternoon shift, or to work the entire day. Below is a schedule of events. We are also working on putting together an evening gathering at the conclusion of the workday, so stay tuned!
9:00 AM Highland Welcome and Introduction - Sara Bon-Harper, Executive Director
9:30 AM - 12:30 PM Shift 1 - Trail grooming or house-based gardening
