Brian Focarino is a partner at Cooley LLP. Brian’s practice focuses on reputation and creativity, and he represents established and emerging companies across a full range of trademark, copyright and advertising matters. He also teaches trademark law at Suffolk Law School.
Brian graduated from William & Mary with a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and government in 2011 and a law degree in 2015. He received an M.Sc. from the University of Edinburgh in 2012. While at William & Mary Law School, Brian was president of the Student Intellectual Property Society, executive editor of the William & Mary Business Law Review, a student representative to the Board of Visitors, a member of the Appellate and Supreme Court Clinic, and co-chaired a record-breaking 3L class gift campaign. As an undergrad, Brian was a President’s Aide, served as student chair of Charter Day, was a student member of the Annual Giving Board, a tour guide, a brother of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, and sat on the Honor Council. He also co-chaired a record-breaking senior class gift campaign. Brian formerly served on the William & Mary Libraries Board of Directors, the Young Guarde Council, and as co-chair of his 10th Law School reunion.
Brian lives in the South End of Boston with his husband, a fellow W&M Law School graduate.
