The Order of the White Jacket, a society that honors and brings together alumni who worked their way through college in the food service establishments at W&M and in the surrounding community, funds numerous scholarships annually for students currently working in the food service industry. The organization's goals and objectives include fostering and strengthening the fraternal bond between alumni who served in food service, promoting the honor and dignity of the work ethic through manual labor to finance a college education, supporting current students working their way through college in food service through scholarship opportunities and advancing the interests of the Alumni Association and W&M. The Alumnae Initiatives Endowment provides resources for the university to enrich programming and enhance opportunities to engage, empower and inspire women across the William & Mary community in a multitude of ways. The Alumni Band Organization (ABO) was founded in 1986 as a special interest alumni group and a support group for the band program. Members include William & Mary alumni who actively participated in any college band, ensemble or other instrumental activity during their time at the university or other alumni or non-alumni who are interested in the history and future of the bands and instrumental education at William & Mary. The ABO remains active by hosting receptions after concerts, working with the band director, playing at Homecoming & Reunion Weekend and providing important service to the Alumni Association. Hulon Willis Association (HWA)
Hulon Willis Association Operating Account: This fund supports the programming of the Hulon Willis Association, including alumni events and regional programming.
Hulon L. Willis, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment: This fund provides scholarship assistance to students with financial need. It is named in honor of Hulon L. Willis, Sr. M.Ed. ’56, the first African American student to attend William & Mary.
Carroll F. S. Hardy Scholarship Endowment: Established in June 2017 in memory of Carroll Hardy HON ’12, former associate vice president of Student Affairs, this endowment provides need-based scholarship support for undergraduate students.
LGBTQ Alumni of William & Mary
From the unique issues faced in retirement to the creation of new family formations, the Boswell Initiative aims to promote innovative, interdisciplinary scholarship on the cultural, economic, political and policy dimensions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life in the United States and in other countries. This fund, named in honor of Yale professor John E. Boswell ’69, supports teaching and scholarship on dimensions of LGBTQ life, both within the U.S. and globally.
W&M GALA Oral History Project
This fund supports the documentation of stories of the lives of W&M LGBTQ alumni, faculty, staff and students though a broad oral history project.
Association of 1775 (Military/Veteran Alumni of William & Mary)
Association of 1775 Commitment to Military Service Scholarship
This scholarship supports full-time William & Mary students who have demonstrated engagement with the United States military through active or reserve duty, or are enrolled in an armed services commissioning program.
