History

The journey of the APIM Association began in fall 2019, when the Alumni Association started reaching out to alumni who identified as APIM. This effort led to the first virtual meeting of the APIM Leadership Circle in January 2021. By spring 2021, monthly meetings and a Dialogue & Community Forum on AAPI Hate , setting the stage for further engagement.

In anticipation of William & Mary’s Asian Centennial, the APIM Leadership Circle and WMAA Inclusion Initiatives team, collaboratively developed mission and vision statements, goals and objectives, as well a statement in support of the Afghani people. Finally, in Fall 2022, they created an advisory board structure and bylaws, officially launching the APIM Association.
