John Cole Scott is the chief investment officer of Closed-End Fund Advisors, a SEC-registered investment advisory firm based in Richmond, Virginia, that specializes in the research, trading, data and products covering U.S.-listed closed-end funds, business development companies (BDCs) and interval funds. Scott is active and prominent in the closed-end fund sector, speaking at conferences all over the U.S. and founding CEFData.com, a comprehensive data service covering all U.S. CEFs, BDCs and interval funds (iCEFs). He graduated from W&M with a B.S. in psychology and founded the a capella group The Cleftomaniacs and was involved in the Sailing Association, Sigma Mu Sigma, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and as a class officer to the Student Assembly. As an alumnus, he maintains a close and very active involvement with W&M as a volunteer. He has been a member of his 10th and 15th year Reunion committees and is a class ambassador. He served 13 years on the Richmond Alumni Chapter Board, including as its president. He is a current member of the W&M Alumni Association Board of Directors, serving on the finance and investments committee. He has also been active in the Tribe Club.
