Charles, a ‘92 W&M Alumna, is a member of the Senior Executive Service and serves as the Executive Director of the U.S. Army Center of Military History. Since 2016 Charles has served as the president of the W&M Association of 1775, the University’s affinity group for military and civil service alumni. He has extensive research, writing, and teaching experience in American and world history, has authored or co-authored three books on the American Civil War, and has led historical tours across the United States and Europe.
