Band: Keep Your Secrets
Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia

Keep Your Secrets is a D.C.-based pop punk band founded by William & Mary alumni Malerie Gamblin and Matthew Nguyen-Ngo ’17. Originally a cover channel on YouTube, the duo received a lucky viral shoutout on TikTok that gave their pop-goes-punk cover of Billie Eilish's "Therefore I Am" thousands of streams overnight, prompting the two to release original music and turn their project into a full-fledged band. Keep Your Secrets released their first original EP "Let's Face It, We're Lost" on Sept. 10 and plans to tour in summer 2022. As an all-POC band in alternative music, Keep Your Secrets strives to bring much-needed diversity and representation to the historically white male-dominated genre.

Malerie and Matt met and became friends in William & Mary's student music scene between 2015 and 2017, attending and sometimes playing shows together at the Meridian. It was hanging out and playing with groups like Say Your Name, Talk To Plants, and The Masaharu Effect that solidified their love for music.
